Bridal hair and makeup questions, answered

Planning a wedding on the Gulf Coast comes with a lot of questions, and I’m happy to answer every one of them! Here are the ones my brides ask me most, with real answers and real prices.

If yours isn’t here, send me a note or give me a call. I’d love to help.

Kristen.

How much does bridal hair and makeup cost with Chic Artiste?

Bridal hair is $125 and bridal makeup is $125, and your lashes are included with the makeup. I try to keep my pricing very simple and straightforward.

For your bridesmaids, mothers, and the groom’s mother, hair is $100 and makeup is $100 per person. A flower girl or junior bridesmaid age 13 or under receives a complimentary service.

Every package includes travel and your date reservation, so the price you see is the price you pay.

What are your bridal packages?

I have four bridal packages: The Bridal Edit is $350, The Signature Bridal Party is $800, The Chic Bridal Party is $1,200, and The Full Glam Experience is $1,600.

The Bridal Edit ($350) is all about you: bridal hair, bridal makeup with lashes, and wedding day beauty prep, on location. A flower girl or junior bridesmaid age 13 or under receives a complimentary service.

The Signature Bridal Party ($800) is hair and makeup for you plus two attendants.

The Chic Bridal Party ($1,200) is hair and makeup for you plus four attendants.

The Full Glam Experience ($1,600) is hair and makeup for you plus six attendants.

Every package includes travel and your date reservation, so the price you see is the price you pay.

Do you come to me, or do I come to a salon?

I come to you! Whether you are preparing at home, in your hotel suite, or in a private room at your venue, I bring the salon right to you.

I don’t operate a salon style space, and I don’t cut or color hair. My work is hair and makeup for the days that matter most.

Which areas do you travel to?

I’m based in Lakewood Ranch and I come to brides in Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch, Bradenton and Manatee County, Venice, Siesta Key, Longboat Key, and Anna Maria Island.

I also travel north to St. Petersburg and Tampa. Travel to all of these areas is included in every package.

If you’re getting ready somewhere outside these towns, just send me the address and I’ll let you know.

Will my makeup and hair last in Florida humidity?

Yes, and it’s something I plan for from our very first conversation. Gulf Coast heat, salt air, and bright sun are tough on a look that was built for a drier climate.

I focus on preparing your skin so your makeup stays soft and true in warm, bright light, and I build your hair with enough hold for beach air without it feeling stiff. I have a few tips that will help with that too. If you book a trial, we’ll test both in real daylight.

Can you do soft glam or a natural bridal look?

Absolutely! Most of my brides want to look like themselves, just more rested and more radiant.

I keep it soft and elegant, with enough polish to photograph beautifully and never so much that you disappear. If you’d love a little more glam, we can build it together.

Do you offer bridal trials?

Yes, I offer bridal trials, and they’re completely optional. A trial is a lovely way for us to decide on your wedding look together instead of guessing.

Trials follow the same rate card as the wedding day: $125 for bridal hair and $125 for bridal makeup. I’ll coordinate all of the trial details with you once you book.

Bring a few inspiration photos, plus one or two looks you don’t like, your veil or hairpiece if you have it, and a white or light top. Come with a clean, moisturized face.

Afterward, wear your look for a few hours if you can, take photos by a window, and tell me anything you’d like to adjust.

Do I need to do a trial to book you?

No, a trial is not required to book my services. You’re welcome to book your wedding day hair and makeup with me with or without one.

If a trial would give you peace of mind, I’d love to do one with you and I’ll coordinate the details. If not, that’s completely fine too! Either way, I want you to feel beautiful and completely like yourself on your wedding day.

Who will actually do my hair and makeup?

Me! I’m a solo artist, so the person you talk to from your very first call is the person doing your hair and makeup on your wedding morning.

How many people can you get ready on the wedding morning?

I can take care of up to eight people in one morning, and each person takes about 30 to 45 minutes.

For larger parties, I work with trusted partner companies so everyone is ready on time and nobody is late to photos. You’ll be in great hands. Just tell me your party size and we’ll plan it together.

How do you plan the timing for a bridal party?

Once I know your party size and your photo time, I build a simple schedule for the morning so everyone knows their chair time.

As the bride, you go whenever works best for your day’s schedule, and I’ll plan everyone else around that.

Do you do hair and makeup for the mothers and the rest of the family?

Yes, I’d love to! The mother of the bride, the mother of the groom, and bridesmaids are $100 for hair and $100 for makeup.

A flower girl or junior bridesmaid age 13 or under receives a complimentary service.

Are lashes and hair extensions included?

Lashes are included with both bridal makeup and party makeup.

If you’re wearing hair extensions that attach with clips, I’ll style them in with your bridal hair. If you’re doing a trial, bring them along so we can plan the look together.

How long have you been doing bridal hair and makeup?

More than twenty years! I built Chic Artiste in North New Jersey and now bring that same standard to Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota, and Florida’s Gulf Coast.

How do I book?

Is my date reservation included in my package?

Yes, the $100 travel and reservation fee is already included in your package total. It saves your date and is not an additional fee.

Once your reservation is confirmed, your date is officially saved and we can start planning the fun part!
